How to determine the rows which only occur on one spreadsheet?
|
The following example shows how to determine the rows which only occur on one spreadsheet.
|
| 1. |
Open the two Excel files and verify that both spreadsheets contain a database structure. The columns which contain identical data must contain identical headings. This is important as Synkronizer can only link columns with the same captions (see user manual chapter 2.1.2). In our example we want to compare two customer files (Customers 2005-10-31.xls, Customers 2005-11-30.xls).
|
| |
| 2. |
Start Synkronizer and open the two files.
|
| 3. |
Mark the spreadsheets as databases.
|
| |
| 4. |
Click the section "Database" and select as primary key the column which contains the identification No. In our example it is the column "Customer No.".
|
| |
| 5. |
Pick the tab "Display" and select all elements of the list box except the entry "Unmatched rows". In that case only the deleted and added rows will be visible. If the other rows should be deleted, select "DELETE identical data instead of HIDING it?"
|
| |
| 6. |
Select the tab "Compare" and select the action "Highlighter".
|
| |
| 7. |
Press the "Start" button. The rows are displayed, which occur on only one spreadsheet.
